District dashboard shows overall 'green' scores but students with disabilities and long‑term English learners lag

"For this year, just for informational, our science points was 61.5, and we were in the green," Krikovich said. She told trustees the district’s English language arts and math overall results sit in the green band but that several student subgroups are not performing at grade level. "Our students with disabilities are in the red category... we have over 450 students that are identified as students with disabilities," Krikovich said.
Krikovich also reported that only 48.8% of English learners made progress on the ELPAC, a decline of 6.7 percentage points, and that chronic absenteeism is 11.7% overall with Hispanic students and students with disabilities notably higher.
The presenters said the district is back in differentiated assistance for special education and will work with the county office to develop a plan, conduct site walk‑throughs and use site funds in single‑plan budgets to target supports.
Trustees pressed for clarity on how the district differentiates among types of disabilities and on streamlining paperwork for special education staff. Krikovich acknowledged that all students with disabilities are grouped for the dashboard and that site and district teams are working on targeted supports and tool selection.
Board members thanked staff for improvements such as reduced suspension rates and discussed how the recent reconfiguration of elementary sites will affect baseline data next year.
