Southgate schedules Dec. 10 special meeting as county planner flags Dec. 31 medical-cannabis deadline

She also described a request from a Southgate resident to allow accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and said the county-wide comprehensive plan is still in progress.
The council did not record a formal roll-call vote to set Dec. 10 but "Council was in agreement" during the meeting. Minter also stated that, separately, "This ordinance will come to Council in Jan. or Feb. 2025," indicating timing discussed by the planner may differ from the urgent deadline she cited. The council's next procedural step is the special meeting on Dec. 10 for the second reading; councilors will need to complete any remaining readings and formal adoption steps before any externally imposed deadline.
The issue arises during the county's update of planning rules; council members asked for the ordinance to return for readings and formal votes. No ordinance text or final vote outcome was recorded at the Nov. 20 meeting.
