Federal Programs Director Ellen Austin briefed the board on findings from a federal programs audit during the Jan. 27 meeting and described next steps for improving program compliance and family engagement.
Austin told trustees she will work with schools on improvements noted in the audit and that "the State wants to see more parent involvement meetings in each school," according to the meeting minutes. The board discussed how to support that work as part of administrator and department reports.
Austin’s presentation was recorded as part of the discussion items; the board did not take formal action beyond requesting administrative follow-up. The superintendent and school leaders will coordinate with Austin to plan parent meetings and address any audit recommendations requiring corrective action.
