County accepts $17,898 emergency management grant to staff program

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved acceptance of the 2023 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) on March 18, 2025. Paul Johnson, Emergency Management Director, told the board the grant "is for $17,898 and is put towards salary and benefits." The motion to accept the grant was made by Commissioner Tom Appel and seconded by Commissioner Donna Gravley. The board authorized the board chair and Auditor/Treasurer to sign the agreement.
The EMPG award will fund portions of emergency management staffing costs; Johnson presented the grant agreement and its budget allocation to the board during the meeting. The item was recorded as a formal motion and vote in the meeting minutes; the grant agreement is on file in the County Coordinator’s office.
