Alex Schultz, Cottonwood County Planning & Zoning Technician, presented an updated Cannabis Ordinance and told the board the cities of Westbrook, Storden, Jeffers, Mountain Lake and Windom have agreed to its terms. On a motion by Commissioner Wayne Maras, seconded by Commissioner Donna Gravley, the board unanimously set a public hearing for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 9:02 a.m.
The hearing is the next required step before the ordinance can be adopted at the county level; Schultz also noted related land-use review work is underway. The county’s record shows the participating cities have signaled local agreement, and the board’s action schedules the formal public comment opportunity and subsequent decision timeline.
