Weslaco ISD honors state softball champions, AP scholars and arts teachers

The Weslaco ISD Board of Trustees recognized students, coaches and staff for athletic and academic achievements, including the Weslaco High School Lady Panthers’ 2024 UIL 6A softball championship.
State Representative Armando Martinez presented a resolution and flags honoring the team’s season, recounted the team’s playoff run and singled out players and coaches. The resolution text recited by Rep. Martinez said Weslaco staged a comeback in the championship game and noted the district’s pride in being the first team from the Rio Grande Valley to claim the state softball title.
Board members also acknowledged AP Scholars from the district, named art teachers and administrators in recognition of Westlaco ISD’s selection as a Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction for 2024, and introduced drum majors who will lead band performances this season.
