The Weslaco Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept legal counsel’s investigation and the superintendent’s recommendation to reinstate Coach Davis to his position after a Level 3 grievance process.
Trustee Castillo moved that the board “accept the advice of counsel and the recommendation of the superintendent to reinstate coach Davis to his position,” a motion seconded and approved by the board. Trustee De Los Santos told the board the investigation report cleared Coach Davis of wrongdoing and described the findings as “very disappointing” for the district but exonerating for the coach. “It’s clearing Coach Davis’s name because there were false allegations that were made against him,” the trustee said.
Board members said they will continue to review additional issues identified in the investigation. The motion also instructed administration to follow up on items flagged by counsel. President Jacqueline Sustaita confirmed the motion passed and the board moved to adjourn after completing the remaining agenda items.
The action followed a closed-session review of a June 18 Level 3 grievance and a legal investigation that the board requested; the board did not disclose the full investigative record in open session but recorded the motion and vote.
