The council approved a resolution accepting a donated bronze statue of musician Eddie Cochran to be placed at the northwest corner of Marion Ross Street and North Broadway Avenue. City staff said the Parks Advisory Board recommended the location and that the donating group will be responsible for the costs, labor and materials to install the statue.
"The statue will be situated in the city right away and will be a bronze statue of Eddie Cochran playing the guitar," staff reported. Councilor Baker moved to approve and Councilor Herman seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote. Council members thanked the donors and volunteers supporting the project.
