'Be Ready Belvedere' sets go-bag event and urges Alert Marin sign-ups

Council member Pat Carapiette presented the work of the Be Ready Belvedere group and urged residents to increase emergency-preparedness actions.
"We're suggesting that everyone has 7 days of provisions if you're called to shelter in place," Pat Carapiette said, and encouraged residents to sign up for Alert Marin and neighborhood road-closure notices. Carapiette said Belvedere is almost 50% signed up on Alert Marin and highlighted the block-captain program (about 80 captains led by Adam Gazzard). The working group is identifying evacuation locations, establishing MOUs with private-property owners to provide evacuation options, and updating the emergency medical trailer stored at St. Stephen's parking lot.
The group announced a "build-a-go-bag" event scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10 from 5 to 6 p.m. to coincide with the Belvedere Homemade Film Festival; residents will be able to pick up a free go-bag and get preparedness information through council chats and the Belvedere Breeze. Council members supported the incremental approach and thanked disaster coordinator Lori Nielsen for assistance.
