The Belvedere City Council approved a revocable license to allow private improvements in the Golden Gate Avenue right of way at 104 Golden Gate Ave that will create two public parking spaces and landscaping improvements.
Planning staff described the project as including a new storm drain, two public parking spaces measuring 36 feet by 8 feet, a site wall (1 foot to 3 feet 4 inches tall), a pedestrian walkway and landscaping. "The private improvements included a new storm drain, 2 public parking spaces, a site wall, pedestrian walkway, and landscaping," the planner said in the staff presentation. The applicant would excavate approximately 80 cubic yards of soil to create the new parking.
Council members asked staff to make explicit in the revocable license that the two parking spaces remain public and that the surface match the street and avoid house-numbering or signs that could mislead users into thinking the spaces were private. The council moved, seconded and approved the item; staff said a condition was included that landscaping must not encroach into the street.
