Belvedere Police Chief Wu presented the department's most recent quarterly report, describing contact numbers, traffic activity and training updates.
"Regarding our RIPA data, officers detained 37 individuals this 0.25, that stemmed from 23 traffic violations and 14 suspicious activities," Chief Wu said, listing the department's activity. He reported 23 warnings, 11 releases to parents and three arrests. Overall the department handled 1,160 incidents in the quarter, with two part I offenses and seven part II offenses highlighted in the report.
Chief Wu said the department has updated, deleted and implemented a set of lexical policies in line with amended laws and best practices, and that staff attended mandated and voluntary training for professional development. He also fielded questions on how the department records mutual-assist activity with Tiburon and noted they do not currently capture assist counts consistently but can query Tiburon's records if needed.
The council acknowledged the department's community-policing focus and asked staff to provide clearer tracking of mutual assists in future reports.
