Development director Lucas Hare said staff has reviewed all four modules of the zoning‑code redraft and is scheduling steering‑committee and public hearings ahead of Planning & Zoning and council consideration.
"We have another steering committee meeting scheduled for August 19 to have the Modules 2 and 3 reviewed by the steering committee," Hare said, and added the intent is to bring the modules to council in October following Planning & Zoning in September. Council members urged a high‑level public open house or Committee of the Whole session to explain the key changes—especially sustainability elements such as native‑plant gardens and updated rules on solar panels and keeping animals—rather than expecting residents to read line‑by‑line changes.
Council and staff discussed using a Committee of the Whole meeting (Aug. 31 was proposed) or a town‑hall format, plus social‑media clips to highlight the most significant changes and to publicize hearings widely to avoid surprises from neighbors. Staff will coordinate with communications staff and the consultant to plan outreach that balances broad notification with practical scheduling.
