Council advances OPWC application ordinance for Hill Road widening to full Council

City staff asked council to advance an ordinance authorizing the mayor, city administrator and finance director to seek funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission for the Hill Road widening project. The motion to move ORD-26-014 to full Council was made by Hanna Detwiler, seconded by Will Bennett, and carried unanimously (Yes 7).
Matt Peoples said the application is intended to fund construction of a three-lane Hill Road segment (from King's Crossing toward the Green Gate turn lane) with construction anticipated in 2028; applications are due Aug. 28 and staff requested first reading and an emergency declaration to meet the OPWC timetable.
The ordinance will be considered on first reading at a full Council meeting and staff said they will hold a public meeting (not a public hearing) as part of the application process.
