Council advances Meijer water-line easement for Velocity Hill Road connection
Summary
Council moved a resolution to full Council to accept a small water-line easement from Meijer Stores LP that will allow extension of a public water main from the rear of the Meijer store across to the Browning property and ultimately to Hill Road as part of the Velocity Hill Road project.
Canal Winchester city staff and council members agreed to forward a resolution authorizing acceptance of a water-line easement from Meijer Stores Limited Partnership to full Council. The motion to move RES-26-030 to full Council was made by Laurie Amick and seconded by Will Bennett and carried unanimously (Yes 7).
Lucas Haire, speaking for city staff, said the easement is tied to the Velocity Hill Road project and will allow the city to extend water service "from the rear of the Meijer store over to the Browning property, which then will extend out to the road." The easement is one of multiple public-utility easements expected for the Browning site to enable the Hill Road extension and related development work.
The move to full Council does not itself approve construction or final design; it advances the resolution for a subsequent Council meeting where council will consider formal acceptance of the easement and any related documents.
