Food‑service staff (introduced as Mrs. Palivan and a colleague) asked the board to approve universal free breakfast and to raise adult meal prices to $3 for breakfast and $5 for lunch, noting adult prices had not increased in five to six years. Staff said student prices will remain unchanged because the district applied for and received a state waiver.
"We are food service is requesting the Vigo County School Board for approval for universal free breakfast for the students of Vigo County for pre k through high school this year of 2627," the food‑service presenter said. The board moved and seconded the request and approved both items by voice vote.
Staff said a team has been formed to implement universal breakfast and that the department believes it can deliver the meals across the district. Administrators thanked the food‑service team and noted the measure will help families who struggle to pay for student lunches.
