Chief Segal described the provision and its purpose: “This amendment is a discount on that daily rate for 30 days and longer if we have to board a prisoner for a long time, it does not happen very often, but it could.” He said the county’s director, Director Berg, took the amendment to the county commissioners and the county agreed to the change for all municipalities; the chief said the adjustment will help the city save money in the infrequent long‑term boarding cases.
