Elko County EMS reports early‑morning Clean Harbors truck axle fire; LEPC approves submitting incident report

Chris McCann, chief of Elko County Ambulance, told the committee that on the morning of Feb. 11 a Clean Harbors truck hauling hazardous waste experienced an axle fire that ignited into the trailer; he said the load did not appear to contain materials that posed an elevated hazard and Clean Harbors handled the cleanup with national teams. "Clean harbors truck carrying hazardous waste from California had a axle catch fire, did catch fire up into the trailer," McCann said.
McCann moved that the incident be submitted to the State Emergency Response Commission for formal reporting; the motion was seconded and approved. The committee recorded the incident for SERC/hazardous incident reporting and will forward the required documentation to the state.
