Homecoming, athletes of the week and new tutoring program highlighted by staff

Staff celebrated Homecoming activities, named athletes of the week, and announced after-school tutoring starting Oct. 13 under the district's 21st Century grant while noting the district has not yet hired a program coordinator.
Staff highlighted a busy Homecoming week across the district and recognized students and staff for recent achievements. "Congratulations to our athlete of the week for the past month, Colton Hightower," a staff member said, and the meeting also named Jamille Johnson (football) and Charlie Cox (volleyball). Another student, Alex Fouch, was noted for qualifying for the state golf tournament, with a planned morning 'clap out' before he departs.
The district will begin after-school tutoring at the high school on Oct. 13 as part of a 21st Century grant. Staff explained the district does not yet have a 21st Century program coordinator, so existing staff (Shelley) will begin the tutoring program immediately. The program structure, leaders and a calendar of upcoming events were shared with the board.
