The board approved using law-enforcement restricted funds to cover the first-year costs of a body-worn camera contract and an in-car camera contract. County staff said the camera contract totals $331,938.16 over five years and the in-car system $115,004.19 over four years, for combined multi-year obligations of roughly $447,000; the initial-year contribution requested was $95,243.
"The camera contract totals $331,938.16... Combined, that's about $447,000. The initial expense of 95,243 will fund both of those contracts for 2026-27," a law enforcement representative told commissioners. The board approved the expenditure, associated budget amendment and authorized the county manager to sign the contracts.
Staff said the county has historically used restricted forfeiture funds for law-enforcement equipment and that the purchases will be budgeted in future fiscal years for the remaining contract costs.
