The Randolph County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of three Ford F-450 Crestline Type 1 ambulances at a total cost of $863,379. County staff said the purchase is fully funded in the current budget and will allow the county to rotate vehicles that have more than 350,000 miles.
"We run 11 ambulances, per day... we're requesting your consideration to approve the purchase of 3 Ford F-450...type 1 ambulances in the amount of 863,379," said an EMS staff member during the agenda presentation. The vendor told staff the vehicles could arrive as early as December. The motion to approve the purchase passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
