Town manager reports Rockport Common progress, sewer infill bid acceptance and fiber timing

During the Town Manager's report, staff updated the Select Board on several capital projects and maintenance items. Construction at Rockport Common is progressing and the manager said 100 trees will be planted and a construction camera will be installed so residents can follow progress; staff expressed hope for substantial completion by November.
The board also heard that the town accepted the bid for an infill sewer project that will serve a previously unserved stretch of Route 1, support a Habitat for Humanity development and a small extension on Union Street. The harbor pump-out station is out of service and a purchase order has been issued to address repairs. Finally, the manager said fiber-construction contractors (Axiom) have been working in town and that construction of the first phase is expected to begin in September, with additional phases possible later.
Staff committed to updates as work progresses and to providing information to residents about closures and construction timing.
