The Rockport Select Board confirmed the appointment of Shanley Neely as director of planning and community development, effective Sept. 7, 2026. The town manager presented Neely's record to the board and noted her experience in Camden and earlier service in Rockport as planning codes clerk.
"Shanley is, currently the planner for the town of Camden," the manager said, and described her municipal and county experience in Maine and Florida. Board members thanked prior staff for their work and said they look forward to Neely bringing continuity to planning projects under way, including Rockport Common and the wastewater planning effort. The motion to confirm the appointment was seconded and approved 5-0.
The manager said Neely will assist committees and department staff and is expected to help carry forward multiple current projects and grants. The board noted the appointment followed a standard hiring process with participation by town staff and board members during interviews.
