Board tweaks transfer-station fee language in resolution 2026-0723 to simplify per‑weight charge
Summary
The board amended resolution 2026-0723 to change the transfer-station charge calculation—replacing a 70¢ per 20-pound rate above 1,000 pounds with $1 per 20 pounds—to reduce public confusion, and adopted the resolution with clarifying language.

Staff proposed a minor wording change to resolution 2026-0723 that would simplify how the city charges for trash brought to the Martinsville transfer station. The change replaces the prior language that charged 70¢ per 20 pounds after 1,000 pounds with a flat $1 per 20 pounds to eliminate calculation confusion. "So our request is just to change that from 70¢ per 20 pounds to a dollar as it's in this resolution," staff said.
The board added clarifying categorization about what fits into which disposal category and then moved, seconded and adopted the amended resolution on collection fees with no opposition. The motion carried and the resolution will govern how transfer-station fees are assessed going forward.
