Reed and Sons named low bidder for State Road 44 water and sewer extension
Summary
Staff reported 11 bids for the State Road 44 water and sewer extension and recommended Reed and Sons Construction (Bloomington, IN) as the lowest responsive bidder at $635,176.35; staff noted the board previously empowered staff to accept low bids, so no new motion was required.

The board reviewed bids for the State Road 44 water and sewer extension project. Mr. Dunn told members that staff received 11 bids and that "the lowest bid was Reed and Sons Construction out of Bloomington, Indiana for $635,176.35."
Mr. Dunn said United Consulting and the project's engineer reviewed the submissions and found Reed and Sons to be responsive; he noted the firm has done work for the city before. Because the board had previously empowered staff to accept low, compliant bids, members agreed no additional motion was needed at the meeting to complete the award recommendation.
The board did not take a separate roll-call vote to re-authorize the award at this meeting, but members confirmed they supported staff moving forward under the prior authorization so the contractor can proceed with scheduling and procurement.
