City switches payment processor; fees shift to 50¢ plus 2.8% per transaction

Court Frazier reported the city transitioned to a new credit-card payment system (BSNA) for utility bills and other receivables and that the previous third-party service ended Saturday morning. He said the system went live and was "up and running" within minutes and staff received payments during the initial rollout.
Frazier warned some recurring payments set up with the old provider did not transfer and asked for patience while staff works through those cases. He told the council the fee structure changed: "The fee now is 50¢ per transaction plus 2.8%." He added that average users with bills up to about $125 may see lower fees than before when the prior flat fee was $3.95 per transaction.
Staff said the new system will allow additional departments to pay invoices online and will enable options like pay-by-text for customers who register.
