Erie County BOE to host Secretary of State visit; staff to study polling-location changes and set ballot-approval date

Clerk Karen told board members that Secretary of State Al Schmidt will be in Erie next week to present an award to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie and will speak at the election conference starting at Bayfront.
She said the office has a citation available for members to sign for presentation on Monday. Karen also reported staff and county partners are investigating potential polling-location changes; staff have visited options and will continue follow-up with local contacts. Finally, she said the board is tentatively scheduled to meet on September 15 to approve the ballot, giving the office the maximum time between approval and mailing ballots.
