The Angola City Council approved ordinance number 18 O 4 20 26 on third reading, which fixes compensation for appointed officers, deputies and other employees of the police and fire departments for 2027.
A council member, speaking in the discussion for first reading follow-up, said they had raised concerns previously and had "met with other people" and gained a fuller understanding, but remained "convinced that there may be a crisis" and urged the council and City Hall to take a hard look if conditions worsen.
The mayor acknowledged the concern and said the matter would be taken "extremely seriously." The ordinance was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
