Parks and public works report: playground mulch, Preston Road lights and drainage RFP

A parks and public works update at the Nov. 6 Gunter City Council meeting outlined near-term maintenance and capital-related tasks. Staff said playground mulch work is roughly two-thirds complete and that they met with the Park Foundation to discuss ongoing maintenance. The speaker noted plans to install $1,500 worth of decorative lights along Preston Road using city crews rather than a contractor.
On streets and stormwater, staff said they are awaiting contract documents from Cobb Finley and plan to advertise an RFP for a drainage project and schedule an outfall study during leaf-off months. The update also noted that portions of county roads near a trailer park (Taylor Ranch area) will be turned over to the city for maintenance, which staff said will require coordination on exact segments and future capital-impact fee work.
Council asked staff to follow up with HOA representatives and the city engineer with details once RFP documents are available.
