Greenville’s City Council voted unanimously to approve a contract to develop a trails and bikeways master plan funded by Texas Department of Transportation transportation set‑aside funds. Presenter Latora told the council the work will inventory existing trails, solicit resident input and evaluate corridors for potential trail corridors and connections to regional routes.
"This will give them a chance to, basically give input on where they'd like to see trails, segments, maybe sidewalks that are missing, potential bike routes," Latora said during the presentation. The contract is structured in four phases: data collection and outreach; needs assessment and two feasibility corridors for in‑depth study; network design and trail typologies; and prioritization with an action plan and funding options. The plan will also explore potential connections to regional trails such as routes through Farmersville and other Hunt County links.
Councilmember [name withheld in transcript] moved to approve the resolution and another council member seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Staff said the plan will include public meetings (in‑person and virtual) and an advisory committee; identified priority corridors will be advanced for project and funding pursuit.
