City manager, staff highlight upcoming events and remind residents of election nomination deadline

The city manager updated the council on upcoming community events and administrative reminders: the Historical Society's annual appreciation dinner on Aug. 1 (tickets $50), an open house at Sierra Vista on July 29 (2–5 p.m.), and National Night Out next Tuesday. He also reminded the council that nomination period for the 2026 elections remains open.
"The deadline currently for those applications is Friday, August 7 by 5PM," the city manager said, urging anyone interested in pulling papers for mayor or council member to contact staff to set an appointment. Council members thanked staff and highlighted recent successful community programs such as Park After Dark.
