Council members reviewed the status of the 15th Street rebuild and related heritage restoration work. Staff said an engineering inspection found stone walls for the pump house structurally sound but noted roof damage and the need for roof replacement before winter: "they feel like the walls themselves are structurally still sound ... the challenge is gonna be they have to get a roof on it before winter." Staff is preparing an RFP for roof removal and repair work.
Members also discussed stored historic railcars and the 'Old Sadie' locomotive restoration: movement and restoration will require crane work and appropriate ground conditions (frozen ground was mentioned as a requirement to move the locomotive), and staff reported possible asbestos‑contaminated soils at a staging area that may require mitigation before relocation. The council did not vote but will anticipate procurement of repairs and follow environmental remediation needs.
