Superintendent Sanford briefed the board on the nomination process for the Ellis County Appraisal District board: each taxing unit may nominate one candidate for each open position; two positions (Rick Keeler and Walter Erwin) were up for 2026. Sanford said Walter Erwin from Ennis had expressed interest in continuing to serve. "You are not required to nominate anyone, but if you do nominate someone, then we have to submit a short bio and contact information for the newly nominated candidate," she said.
When the chair solicited nominations from the board, no member put forward a nomination and the item did not proceed; the chair characterized the motion as having died for lack of a nomination. The board did not take a formal vote on a nominee.
