The Hood River City Council voted to adopt two resolutions sending separate $8.7 million general-obligation bond measures to the November 2026 ballot: one aimed at funding affordable housing and oversight, and one to renovate and expand the city’s public safety facility to address health, safety and accessibility issues.
Will Norris (staff) presented the ballot titles and a tax-rate estimate: "The rates came out to was 39¢ per thousand, for an $8,700,000 housing bond and 34¢ per thousand for an $8,700,000 police bond," he said, and shared median homeowner impacts of about $8.82 for the housing bond and $7.69 for the police bond. Councilors asked clarifying questions about how income bands would be described in the voter summary and how explanatory statements would be made available if the county produces a voter's pamphlet. The council adopted the resolutions by motion and will proceed with outreach and explanatory material ahead of the ballot.
