District outlines LED conversions, HVAC replacements and fencing work in capital projects update

District facilities staff reviewed a range of capital projects underway and in planning. Staff showed examples of LED conversions and before/after classroom lighting, reported Cottonberry painting and door work wrapping up, and said Canyonville carpet replacement is scheduled for a subset of classrooms. "These are the new LEDs, and you can see how well they're lighting the room," staff said while showing photos of converted classrooms.
On larger projects, staff discussed updated quotes to extend fencing to the building line to fully secure the high-school campus, ongoing work on several rooftop HVAC units (one unit has already failed and will be replaced), and a plan to expand irrigation inside the track and correct Myrtle Creek irrigation. The board discussed options for gym cooling including rooftop systems versus multiple split units or mobile swamp-style coolers; staff flagged cost, maintenance and functionality trade-offs for each option.
