Alexander Cortes described repeated physical incidents affecting his kindergarten and middle-school children — including grabbing, choking and spitting — and asked the board to ensure adequate staffing, training and interventions so inclusion does not jeopardize others' physical safety.
"My concern is not about individual student. My concern is whether enough resources, staffing, training, and supports are available to ensure a safe environment for everyone," Cortes said. Norma Rosas said her child eloped, had biting incidents, needed diaper support and that multiple requests for a 1:1 aide and ABA provider attendance were denied; she said she was not notified about a school transfer. Board members asked Superintendent Simon to follow up with both families after the meeting.
