Council hears yellow-bus pilot update; aftercare runs drawing riders, Saint Hillary's route underused

A council member reported that the school-year pilot for the yellow bus program has mixed results: many Belvedere routes are sold out, but a new express bus to Saint Hillary's has low ridership while the aftercare run is busy.
"It's incredibly well sold this year, and a lot of the routes are completely sold out, including the Belvedere routes," the council member said, and noted the pilot added "0.167 bus" to test two additions. Staff said they will analyze traffic effects of the pilots and will not continue the experiments unless they produce a meaningful impact on local traffic.
Councilors discussed outreach to Saint Hillary's families and alternatives to using the pilot bus if demand remains low; staff said they may repurpose the bus next year if ridership does not increase.
