District lists hundreds of devices as surplus and recommends Digital Red for disposal

District technology leaders told the board they have identified large quantities of end-of-life equipment recommended for disposal and asked for authority to use Digital Red to handle recycling, reuse or destruction with accompanying certificates. The memorandum lists model-specific counts, including 256 Lenovo Gen 2 Chromebooks (2020), 82 ASUS C202 Chromebooks (2015), 61 MacBook Air 2015 and numerous older iMacs and MacBook models.
"The following technology equipment is no longer viable for student or staff use. Therefore, the administration is asking for authority to dispose of the equipment," the memorandum from Dr. Christopher Martelli and Dr. Gerrie Aulisa states. The recommendation named Digital Red as the vendor who will provide a recycle report, reuse report, or certificate of destruction.
