Sportsplex director outlines revenue shortfall, seeks program growth to boost income

James Hunter, introduced as the Sportsplex’s new director, said the staff surveyed parents and coaches and found field‑condition improvements and infield work were top priorities. Hunter said the facility is pursuing camps, clinics, tournaments and other events to increase earned revenue and asked the board to consider continued lodging‑tax support and other assistance if the Sportsplex can demonstrate participation and revenue metrics. "We served 500 players, which brought in thousands of parents, grandparents, kids, and everybody seemed to enjoy the property," Hunter said. Supervisors asked staff to compile clearer revenue versus expense projections so they can support grant or lodging‑tax requests during the upcoming legislative cycle.
