Salt Creek SD 48 board approves consent agenda and files $12.53M tax levy

The Salt Creek School District 48 Board of Education met Jan. 16, 2025, at John E. Albright Middle School and approved its consent agenda, covering meeting minutes, financial statements, the personnel report and the destruction of adopted executive session audio recordings more than 18 months old. Mr. Van De Velde moved and Mr. Downer seconded the motion; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous.
The board also authorized disposal of surplus technology equipment as recommended by administration; Digital Red will be used to recycle or destroy hardware and provide a disposal certificate. Superintendent Amy M. Zaher presented the items and recommended the disposal as part of ongoing asset management.
On finance matters, the board authorized filing the 2024 Salt Creek District 48 Tax Levy in the amount of $12,533,136 with the DuPage County Clerk. The levy represents a 7.03% increase over the 2023 capped extension. Mr. Kielminski moved the levy authorization; Mr. Dickens seconded. Roll-call recorded aye votes from Mr. Kielminski, Mr. Dickens, Mr. Downer, Mrs. Rattana, Mr. Van De Velde and Mr. Cuny. The motion carried unanimously.
