The council read and signed a proclamation recognizing July 2026 as Disability Pride Month, noting the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. The mayor said he would sign and issue the proclamation after the meeting.
Acting city manager Steve Cooper previewed the Old Time Fair (July 10-12) at Willamette Park, with a parade on Saturday at 10 a.m., music and performances, and volunteer outreach for parade staffing. He also announced Music in the Park beginning July 23 and Movies in the Park starting August 4. Councilors thanked volunteers who recently helped maintain bioswales and noted a police swearing-in and other community activities.
