Pratt County pursues up to $150,000 Emergency Heal grant to renovate former Woody’s building

Heather Morgan, who gave the meeting’s economic development update, said Pratt County is working with the Kansas Department of Commerce on an Emergency Heal Grant application to renovate the former Woody’s building. "The Emergency Heal Grant is a dollar for dollar matching grant, providing funding of up to $150,000," she said.
Morgan said the county is preparing to pair the renovation with workforce development services, and has been in communication with the Workforce Division of the Kansas Department of Commerce to position the county to take advantage of placement services and assistance programs. The application, if successful, would require a county match equal to any grant award and would fund building renovation costs tied to the project.
The commission did not vote on the grant application at the meeting; Morgan presented the application status as part of the economic development report and answered commissioners’ procedural questions about next steps.
