Deputy Superintendent Bates presented the citizens bond steering committee—s full recommendation: a no-tax-rate-increase package totaling $445,800,000 that would prioritize deferred maintenance, HVAC and safety upgrades and investments in student experience and IT infrastructure. "This option gets you $445,800,000," Bates told trustees, and he said $170,000,000 of that would be directed to deferred maintenance.
The presentation positioned the package as one of three options trustees could place before voters. Bates said the long-range master plan identifies roughly $1 billion in facility needs across the district, and the committee—s process included more than 55 meetings and engagement with about 2,000 people. Trustees asked staff to prepare more detailed cost breakdowns, public-facing messaging and timeline specifics for the next meeting on the 11th.
