Student board representatives report fall activities; Pioneer Valley Folklorico performs

The Sept. 9 board meeting featured reports from student board representatives across district high schools. Destiny Jimenez (Delta) emphasized mental-health advocacy and reported Delta’s early-year enrollment and a pilot R4 program; Marixa (Santa Maria High) summarized ASB spirit-week activities and upcoming Senior Sunrise; Navis John (Righetti) described college-readiness programming and FFA involvement; and Sila Carmona (Pioneer Valley) highlighted ASB planning, retreats and student recognition programs.
The meeting included a student showcase: Pioneer Valley’s Ballet Folklorico (teacher Michelle Gabaldon and students Estrella and Diana) explained how participation built confidence and cultural connection and performed a dance from the Sinaloa region for the board and public.
