Woodruff explained the district offers an appeal process and seat-time make-up options (after-school time, late arrival/early-release make-ups) for students who fall below the requirement. He said roughly 20% of the flagged students are academically struggling; others face barriers including homelessness and medical issues, and the district uses targeted supports to address those cases.
Board members asked whether limiting TA credits or early-release options is feasible; Woodruff said the district would need additional staffing to fully restrict those options and may instead cap the number of TA/early-release credits per year as a nudging strategy.
