Chattahoochee County commissioners unanimously approved a resolution March 4 authorizing the county to apply for up to $1,000,000 in FY2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a community facilities program.
Commissioners also passed a separate resolution obligating $47,500 from county funds as the required local match and leverage if the grant is awarded. The resolution states the commitment is contingent on the award of CDBG funds and directs the board chair to execute any documentation required by the Department of Community Affairs.
The county also records a Letter of Agreement with the River Valley Regional Commission (RC) under which the RC will prepare and submit the CDBG application and perform related tasks including surveys, preliminary historic and environmental assessment, cost estimating and public hearings. The RC agreement notes an application processing cost to the county of $750 for a new application and $500 for a rewrite, payable from allowable administrative expenses if the application proceeds.
Commissioner Jason Frost moved to file the application and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded; that motion, and the motion to obligate the county match, were each approved unanimously. County staff will forward required materials to the RC and to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and will document the local match if the award is made.
