Commission OKs businesses opening recycle‑center accounts; cardboard‑compactor decision tabled

Commissioners voted unanimously to permit businesses to establish accounts at the county recycle center and tabled a separate proposal to purchase and install a cardboard compactor until the next work session.
County Manager Thomas Weaver told the board staff "are beginning to audit the garbage accounts with two trash cans, we found seventy-six that have an extra can, but they aren't paying for those extra trashcans," and that staff will contact accounts to determine whether cans were left behind after tenants moved or whether billing errors occurred.
The cardboard‑compactor item was tabled pending additional information or agreement terms. Allowing businesses to open accounts was approved during the meeting and will be reflected in updated recycle‑center policies.
