Surry County Schools recognized two students for awards at the North Carolina State Science and Engineering Fair. Holly Lyons (S4) presented honors to McKinley Branch, who received an Exemplary Project Award in the elementary division for a project titled “Buzzing for the Best,” and to Madeline Branch, who placed third in junior-division biological sciences for a project examining saliva pH in cattle and received the Zoetis Advancing Animal Care Award.
Board members congratulated the students and noted the awards represent statewide recognition of strong student work. "Congratulations, Branches," one staff speaker said during the recognition.
