Sheriff: seasonal USFS patrols continue under amended agreement; commissioners authorize signature

Sheriff Levi Dominguez summarized the county's annual cooperative agreement with the U.S. Forest Service to provide dedicated patrols in the Bighorn National Forest; the program uses Forest Service pass-through funds to pay deputies for patrols outside their regular scheduled hours.
"This agreement runs from June 1 through September 30 every year," Dominguez said, and he reported that deputies provided about 160 dedicated patrol hours in 2025 and covered just over 3,300 miles on those shifts. The board moved to approve the amended agreement and to authorize the chair to sign the documents; the motion carried by voice vote.
