ISD official lauds Boyne City's expanded CTE offerings, cites workforce demand

The ISD speaker told the board that last year the district received $673,000 in millage funds that helped secure equipment recognized by industry and postsecondary partners. He connected that local investment to broader workforce demand, citing large numbers of trade-related jobs in the state and projections of a retiring workforce rather than a like-for-like replacement over the coming decade. "Because of districts like Boyne City, your neighboring ISD districts, over 80% of high school students take at least one CTE class," the ISD representative said, adding that CTE participation contributes to student readiness for a changing job market.
Board members thanked the ISD representative for the overview and discussion turned to partnership opportunities and upcoming ISD-hosted events, including summer camps and career-exploration days.
