Georgia Forestry reports one wildfire in Chattahoochee County, covers about 34,000 acres

At the county work session on Aug. 26, Justin Brown, Chief Ranger for the Georgia Forestry Commission, presented the agency’s annual report for the July–June cycle.
Brown said the county’s forestry protection program covers approximately 34,000 acres and that the county pays $0.10 per acre for that protection. He noted outreach activities at the high school and said the agency issued 26 permits to seven landowners and recorded one wildfire in the county during the year.
Chairman Coffey and county staff thanked Brown and noted his upcoming transfer to Schley County; the commission extended best wishes on his next assignment.
